Couples + Marriage Counseling
Your relationship doesn’t feel the way it used to. The same problems keep coming up and it’s getting harder (or almost impossible) to connect. You aren’t sure how to move forward together, or even if you want to anymore. You do know that something needs to change in your relationship. Counseling can be a place where a neutral therapist can help you explore the issues that need to be talked about. It can also be a place to learn useful skills to actually navigate conflict productively. Couples counseling is an investment for your relationship. As you look for the right therapist, here are a few pieces of information about couples counseling at Sky + Stone:
I have completed Gottman Method Level 1 training and integrate tools from this model into my work with couples. At the beginning of our work, we’ll identify your goals as a couple and then tackle the issues that act as barriers to these goals. Compared to individual therapy, you can expect couples therapy at Sky + Stone to be a bit more structured or directive.

Nope! I work well with couples who are in a committed, long-term relationship. For engaged couples, or those considering living together, couples counseling can help you solidfy your relationship foundation.

At Sky and Stone Counseling, you can learn more effective ways of navigating conflict (beyond basic communication skills). We can explore major stressors that affect your relationship—like parenthood, finances, balancing work-household needs, or complicated in-law relationships. We can also address past betrayal and trauma that continue to affect your life together.

Prior to an initial appointment, we’ll want to ensure that BOTH people in the relationship feel good about moving forward with couples counseling with this therapist. While either partner is welcome to reach out initially, it will be important that there is a separate consultation call with each partner. This is also an opportunity to demonstrate to each other your willingness to step into this work.
